In the January 23 week Initial jobless claims that reflect the number of individuals applied for the unemployment insurance for the first time reduced by 8,000 to 470,000. However, a bigger improvement was expected, because the results of the January 16 week were affected by holiday processing delay.
The four-week average rose by 9,500 and became equal to 456,250. The previous downtrend has changed to the narrow range oscillations.
